Affection
September 2017 - Present
Affection deals with Love and Pain and their delicate relationship, much like life and death. The Roses on the back run counter to the Skulls on the front to further illustrate this point.
This in a lot of ways is a very personal piece, hence why I guess it's unfinished. Paternal strains, past loves, homesickness, and loneliness are the major themes with each piece representing a specific memory or feeling for me. I guess I just don't see a point in revisiting them.
The train drawn as the centerpiece of this canvas is of the subway #7 in NYC, perhaps the most frequented train I took when I was a kid. They say 'pain makes the artist'. I say pain is just pain.

"...throw roses into the abyss and say: 'here is my thanks to the monster who didn't succeed in swallowing me alive.'"
